"In Your Backyard" Before building 8-foot-high Garden walls, Call 311, Ontario, Canada and Confirm the following, As Long as a free-standing structure as a Trellis is, Made of standard construction materials, and is Not attached to other structures, and is, Solely on your property, It can be 8 feet tall. Follow municipal instructions and as long as you Call your 8’ high Garden Walls just that or call it a Trellis, you will be allowed 8 foot tall Garden Walls If you call it a fence, you will have a By-Law problem. |

T-Post Driver
Tape Measure
Standard Pliers
Side Cuter Pliers
24 Inch Bolt Cutter
Electric Grinder with steel cutting blade
Lay Out Garden Walls
As per plans @ min. one inch in from your property line.
Wall Height’s are in 6 inch increments.
Mark T-Posts 2 feet up from bottom.
Make T-Posts 2 inches above top of finished wall.
Cut T-Post remnant after installing Wire Mesh with grinder.
Install T-Posts
One man “loosely” holds T-Post level on layout line.
with flat side of T-post toward your yard,
2nd man on stepladder drives T-post MIN. 2’ below grade . check levels between drives.
You can also rent an electric powered post driver.
Install Wire Mesh
MIN. 6×6 (4×8 (sheet) Steel Wire Mesh
Measure Wire Mesh from 2” above grade to top of finished wall.
Cut Wire mesh to heights needed.
Fasten Wire Mesh @ 6” O/C on T-Posts with 6" Tie Wire.
Cut with grinder T-Post remnant at top of wall..
Install Tyvek
Cut Tie Wire 6” long, two or three per Tyvek run.
Cut Sold Color TYVEK House Wrap Role in to 6” lengths.
cut 6” inch wide TYVEK strips 2x the height of finished wall plus 8”
Straddle Tyvek on top run even the ends out.
Weave Tyvek on to Wire Mesh as in photo the last weave ends back to front.
Make Tyvek taut by pulling Tyvek pierce both sides of Tyvek with 6” Tie wire 3/4 inch above
bottom tine and tie off Tie Wire not to tight, install two or 3 Tie Wire clips per Tyvek run.
Cut remnant Tyvek 1” above tie wire clip with scissors.
Use concrete garden edging or 2×6 pressure treated wood at base.
