What Art to Buy ?
You want to buy art as an investment, but you are not sure of what art to buy.
A specific artwork in a certain color and size may be needed to complement and complete the ambiance of a space. Following trends and what trend setters buy is not always the way to go. Some people buy what they like not ever thinking of art as an investment. Some of the priciest artworks out there today are being produced by kindergarten students. Artists follow trends and create new trends all the time, as in music, where one day it is off the charts and then forgotten and worse the music becomes non listenable, avoided, and discarded. Musical artworks may last for hundreds of years inspiring many generations, this is the art wealthy art collectors are banking on. It could also be the trend of an era. Music, painting, and sculpture is first to come to mind, there are so many forms of collectable art it can be boggling for new collectors. I want to focus on Paintings and Sculptors since I am a Painter / Sculptor.
Flamboyant thick colorful art is the trend, in the same trend is not so colorful art with a theme of the acknowledgement of existence within the molecular realm which suggest an afterlife, creating deep manifestations within one’s imagination as music dose with sound, as paintings and sculptures do through the visual experience, igniting imagination. If one looks on an artwork and experiences bursts of new thoughts, you have found something unique. One may look on an artwork with only the analytical mind is why artworks are hidden from public view. Once the artwork is placed in a setting where light changes through the day it may revel hidden secrets. As with most paintings the eyes of a subject are stationary, in other artworks the eyes follow you. It sometimes takes a change in light intensity to revel what is in a painting. As with sculptures with a change of light the sculpture may dance or revel other figures and shapes that are not visible in a gallery setting. Some artworks are purposely composed for one angel of view such complicated dynamic artworks look like a mishmash of abstracts until one is in the position the artist intended the viewer to be in, in order to see the artwork for what it really is.
The Bottom Line
Never stop hunting for that unique piece of art.
